Twenty six years ago, as a new real estate licensee, I stumbled over myself to list and close a $77,000 house. It was my buddy's residence; a 3-bedroom, 1-bath, brick home in Wichita, Kansas, just outside the main gate to McConnell Air Force Base, where I was stationed...
If you aren't familiar with the brokerage landscape in the mid-90's, I'd like to point out that Buyer Agency was a brand new thing. Since most buyers didn't work with agents back then, I double-sided the sale and made friends with the buyer.
He owned multiple rentals. My listing was the next addition to his portfolio.
That relationship changed the trajectory of my real estate career. It was my first exposure to the power of building wealth through real estate, and it was the first time I made money selling a house to an investor.
That was when I decided to focus exclusively on serving investors.
Fast forward to the 2010's (post-financial crisis, the era of the residential investment feeding frenzy) when my experience as an investment specialist paid off BIG!
That economic growth period presented a gold-rush of opportunities, both, for my clients and for me, as investors. It was a good time to be on this side of the business:
Closed over 2,400 residential investment sales
